There’s something emotional about your first international flight as a married couple. The excitement mixed with nervousness, the quiet prayers before takeoff, and the realization that “Uy, tayo na ‘to. Magkasama na tayo sa lahat.”

Everything felt new—new airport, new country, new culture. We were excited but also slightly anxious, especially when it came to immigration. As Filipinos, we all know that immigration can sometimes be intimidating.

But surprisingly, from the very first step at Thailand immigration—wala kaming naging problema. No unnecessary stress, no awkward moments. Just a smooth process that instantly made us feel welcome. We even joked about it because we were mentally prepared for something more intense—but Thailand said, “Relax, you’re welcome here.”

That moment alone set the tone for the rest of our trip.

Falling in Love with Thailand at First Arrival 🇹🇭❤️

You know how some places slowly grow on you? Thailand was not like that for us.

We fell in love instantly.

From the organized airport, the calm flow of people, and the warmth you feel even without words—it felt comforting. There was no rush, no chaos, just a quiet excitement that whispered, “You’re going to enjoy this place.”

Even small details stood out. The cleanliness, the efficiency, and the way people mind their own space while still being helpful. It felt like a perfect balance between city life and peaceful living.

Hotel First Impressions (and a Funny Realization 😅)

Our first hotel experience was… interesting.

At first, we found the hotel staff a bit intimidating. One of the staff members had his eyebrows raised while looking at me, and I immediately thought, “Did I do something wrong?” 😅

Later on, I realized—that’s just how they look and how they speak. Cultural differences can really play tricks on your mind. Once we got past that initial impression, we saw how genuinely kind and helpful they were.

One moment that really stood out was when the staff casually reminded me that breakfast would be open in an hour and a half. Such a small thing, but it showed attentiveness and care. No rush, no pressure—just gentle reminders.

That’s when I truly understood: intimidating at first glance, but actually very warm and friendly.

One of the things that surprised us the most was how clean the streets were, especially around our hotel.

You can really tell when a city is well taken care of. The sidewalks were clean, there wasn’t that strong “city smell,” and the air felt lighter. You could walk around without feeling overwhelmed by pollution.

It gave us peace of mind—especially as travelers who love exploring by foot. Every walk felt safe, calm, and refreshing. Parang ang sarap lang maglakad-lakad kahit wala kang pupuntahan.

Thai Food: Spicy, Bold, and Unforgettable 🌶️🍜

I love spicy food. Like, I really love spicy food.

But Thailand? Thailand brought spice to a whole new level.

Their food is super spicy—as in, mapapaisip ka kung kaya mo pa ba 😅. But the good news is, you can always ask for non-spicy food. They’re very accommodating when it comes to preferences.

What we loved most was how flavorful everything was. Every dish had character—sweet, salty, sour, spicy—all working together. It’s the kind of food that makes you curious, excited, and slightly scared all at once.

Food in Thailand isn’t just about eating. It’s an experience.

One thing we were grateful for during the trip was how easy transportation was.

We booked everything via Grab, and honestly, we had zero problems. No misunderstandings, no overcharging stress, no confusion about directions. Everything felt safe and organized.

For first-time international travelers, especially couples traveling together for the first time, this kind of convenience is priceless. It allowed us to focus more on enjoying the moment instead of worrying about how to get from point A to point B.
